Naomi Ryder embroidering
Contemporary print designer JEN ROWLAND produces hand printed lampshades, cushions and a wide range of gift stationery that sell in boutiques across the UK and Europe including London's famous Liberty, Heals and Fortnum & Mason.
Her inspiration comes from vintage botanical illustrations, to which Jen gives a modern twist with her bold use of colour and pattern.
Award winning textile designer and illustrator NAOMI RYDER uses embroidery, drawing-with-stitch and print to create delicate contemporary images of ordinary life. Naomi illustrates for magazines and sells her own products,from illustrated bone china to cards,artwork and interior products. Recent commissions include pieces for Mary Portas at Hose of Fraser, Southbank Centre, Domino Records and Habitat.

THE WORKSHOPS
Jen Rowland and Naomi Ryder are combining their talents and experience to create a unique opportunity for you to explore your creativity. You will learn techniques and create your own samples in a studio environment as part of a small friendly group, where you will benefit from one-to-one expert advice.

Three one-day workshops available - 10am-4pm - £120 each

SCREENPRINTING
Explore techniques including colour mixing and how to use different pigments and binders. Print with paper cut stencils and exposed screens onto various fabrics and papers.

FLOCKING AND FOILING
Explore the potential of stunning velvety flocks and metallic foils using hand painting and free brush marks, stamping, pleating and shaping and screen printing.

HAND EMBROIDERY
Learn a variety of embroidery stitches including couching, seed, feather and chain stitch, and explore molas applique, creating layered samples using bondaweb.

Two evening workshops available - 6.30-8.30pm - £50 each

FLOCKING AND FOILING
Explore the potential of stunning velvety flocks and metallic foils using hand painting and free brush marks, stamping and pleating.

HAND EMBROIDERY
An introduction into basic embroidery stitches including couching, seed, feather and chain with examples of how you can experiment further with this.

What to bring

Feel free to bring along any design ideas. If not, don't worry; we have a wealth of ideas and design books and will be on hand throughout to assist with your samples.

Follow up courses can be arranged if you would like to develop what you have learnt.
